FAQ'S on the area and Katrine

FAQ’s

  • Will I get sea sick?

A catamaran is a very stable boat and the Andaman is a sea of calm waters. We have not as yet, been witness to any person having suffered from being sea sick aboard “Katrine”.

  • Clothing: What should I bring

Remember, you will need a limited amount of clothing, and as space aboard a yacht is at a premium, the fewer the better!

Comfortable clothing suitable for the hot tropics. No jerseys or coats, but a light windbreaker. Swimming costume, towel and sarongs (can be bought cheaply in Thailand and Malaysia)

Hats/caps with ties to fasten!

Shoes: slops – water friendly- and comfortable walking shoes for exploring the islands. No shoes are worn on board.

Toiletries: include mosquito repellent

Sun block very necessary being on the water constantly

Sunglasses

  • Do I need inoculations?

We advise that you speak to your medical doctor in this regard. We have seen no cases of Malaria in the areas we sail, but best to be well advised.

  •  May I smoke on board?

Because of the fire hazard aboard a yacht we ask that you refrain from smoking inside the boat. Please note: you will be required to sign an indemnity form stating that you have brought no drugs or prohibited contraband on board

  •  Do I need to bring my own snorkeling gear?  What about scuba diving?

Your own snorkeling gear ensures a good fit, but we have limited gear on board.

Should you wish to scuba dive, we can arrange for you to join one of the many dive concessions that operate on different islands as an optional extra

  • Do I need a visa for Thailand and Malaysia?

Visas are gained on entry to the country – one month for Thailand and three months for Malaysia

SAFETY-CHARTS-ADMINISTRATION

Safety: The area is known as an extremely safe charter destination on both land and water. Being part of the Andaman Sea, which is regularly patrolled by the Thai Navy, Coast Guard and Water Police, it should not be confused with an occasional trouble spot in the South China Sea, over 2,000 miles away, between Borneo and the Philippines.

Entry Visas are not required by tourists from most countries, for a stay of up to 30 days in Thailand or 90 days in Malaysia. Upon your date of entry, passports should have a minimum of 6 months remaining, before the date of expiry.

When sailing from one country to another, we take care of all the administrative work.
